Puducherry: Joining issues with BJP leader L K Advani, Rahul Gandhi took potshots at him saying Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not weak as he had not ‘buckled’ to terrorists during the Kandahar hijack episode.
"He (Singh) has achieved a hell of a lot. He has kept the country faster than it has ever grown. He has brought massive pressure on our neighbour after the Mumbai
attack and he has given us a strategic deal
(with the US) which the previous Government had
not done," he told a press conference.
“Let us not go back very far. During the
(negotiations on) US deal, the Prime Minister
showed tremendous grit, will and toughness. These
are easy things to say. If he is a weak Prime Minister
he did not buckle in front of terrorists in Kandahar.”
“He has achieved a lot for the country. I do not think he is weak. He has whole support from me," Gandhi said.
“I am very optimistic about UP and Bihar”

Wright To Rahul Gandhi ask Questions
He will answer the Most Challenging Ones
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while addressing the media said
“U.P. and Bihar used to be the heart of where our strength used to come and in U.P and Bihar we have declined considerably... It might seem surprising to lot of you but I think the people of U.P are coming to the conclusion that the options they have tried have not worked and in near future there is going to be space for a new type of politics in U.P and the Congress Party is very well positioned to deliver that. The question is one of implementation, I don't think that the question is one of political space. A state like U.P cannot be run the way it has been run and had been run. U.P is a very large part of India, and U.P is unfortunately fallen behind so I think there is a need for a new type of politics in U.P from an Indian prospective not just U.P perspective.”

New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday disclosed that he wanted Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, the son of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, to be a minister in the cabinet, but Rahul refused.
'I always wanted Rahul Gandhi to be a minister, but he refused,' Manmohan Singh told reporters on the sidelines of a defence investiture function at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
'Power must be handed to the youth,' the prime minister underlined.
Manmohan Singh's remarks come amid speculation about a role for Rahul Gandhi in the next government if the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) led by the Congress returns to power after the elections this April-May.

I would like to suggest that the farm loan waiver scheme should be made effective for even those farmers who have paid their debt once or twice but could not pay back the farm loan. This has resulted in Farmer Suicides.
Q : Whom do you see as the Next PM ? ( Ram from Delhi)
RG: I see Dr. Manmohan Singh as the future PM in 2009
Q : What are you doing to “Democratize” the Youth Congress? ( Rohit from Hamirpur)
RG: We are taking a number of steps. First is Election in the Organizations from Block level to the district and then the State Level. We have already held successful Youth Congress elections in Punjab. Other states like UP, Bihar, MP have to follow. We are also involving more and more youth in the political process by our membership campaigns
